I've been trying to convince Steven to take me on a bike ride on the Swamp Rabbit Trail for quite some time now. This weekend it finally happened!
We stayed out at the Latham cabin Friday night. Saturday morning we got up early, took Cooper for a walk through the woods. Steven picked some wild flowers for me and put them in this "vase."
(It was totally fitting since the night before we had done some target practice with my new Ruger LCR and his AR15. However, if you had asked me 3 years ago if I would have thought this was cute I would have said, "no way!")
After that we hit the road to Sunrift to rent bikes. We passed a freshly-planted field on the way - the combo of the white on the rows (anybody know the actual name of that "stuff"?) and the perfectly blue sky made for an awesome sight!
Soon we were on the trail having a blast!
We rode 7 miles to the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery, had some coffee and (of course) some chocolate and rode back into TR.
One section of the trail has a split off to Furman University. On the way back we took the split and rode by the lake for a bit.
After we returned our bikes we had lunch on the roof of the Whistle Stop Cafe and then perused some shops we hadn't been to yet.
Our favorite was the Carolina Honey Bee Company, a local all-things-honey-and-honey-bees store. They sell honey in pump bottles (who knew!), and I also got some beeswax lotion which is amazing.
The weather couldn't have been any more beautiful and it was the best day of relaxation we've had in a long time!
